The short answer
What you need to know
Choose boxed tissues when a rigid pack suits the desk or holder, and soft packs when their flexible format suits your storage and use. Check the exact pack dimensions and usable sheets before comparing price.

Before you buy
- Measure the holder before choosing a pack.
- Compare sheets rather than package appearance.
- Trial the opening and dispensing position.
Choose the package for its location
A tissue box can stand on a reception counter or meeting table without a separate cover. A soft pack can be convenient where space is limited or the pack needs to move between locations. Neither package type establishes the quality of the tissue inside.
For hotel rooms, check the decorative holder before ordering. Measure internal length, width and height, and observe where the dispensing opening sits. A refill may fit inside but still pull awkwardly if the opening is misaligned.
Check the pack and carton dimensions
Storage decisions need more than the number of pieces. Ask for outer carton dimensions when shelf space is constrained. Compare how many usable packs fit your stockroom and how much of one carton a site will use before the next delivery.
Keep unopened stock in its original packaging until needed. When a location uses several variants, label the shelf clearly so a pack intended for a different holder is not issued by mistake.
Test the actual dispensing setup
Use one pack in the real location. Check the first few pulls, the middle of the pack and the point when it is nearly empty. Look for fit problems and whether staff can replace it without damaging the packaging.
A single trial helps identify fit issues but cannot prove a fixed percentage saving. Record weekly pack usage after a switch and compare similar operating periods before deciding that the new format reduced spending.
Compare the quote on a consistent basis
Record usable sheets per pack, dimensions, ply and packs per carton. If those specifications differ, explain the trade-off to the person approving the purchase instead of comparing carton totals alone.
