The short answer
What you need to know
Compare the product specification and evidence behind a sourcing claim. FSC 100%, FSC Mix and FSC Recycled have different meanings. A generic eco-friendly description does not establish certification or recycled content.

Before you buy
- Treat sourcing and product performance as separate questions.
- Check the exact label and supporting evidence.
- Do not infer certification from a supplier’s other products.
Separate material sourcing from product suitability
A buyer may have a recycled-content target, a certified sourcing policy or simply a requirement to document what was purchased. Write that requirement before comparing products. The material claim should refer to the exact product variant being quoted.
Separately check the tissue's intended use, dimensions, packing and fit. A sourcing label does not by itself tell you whether a refill works in your dispenser or suits your guest-room holder.
Understand the three FSC labels
FSC describes its 100% label as virgin material from FSC-certified forests. Its Mix label covers specified combinations of certified, recycled and controlled material. FSC Recycled identifies products made with recycled fibre. These categories should not be treated as identical claims.
Use FSC's official explanation linked below to check the label wording. This guide does not certify any product in our catalogue.
| Label | What to distinguish |
|---|---|
| FSC 100% | Certified forest origin |
| FSC Mix | A permitted mix of material sources |
| FSC Recycled | Recycled material claim |
Ask for evidence tied to the item
Request a clear image of the product's label and any documentation needed by your organization's purchasing policy. Check that the product, variant and supplied paperwork match. If you require a specific claim on the invoice, discuss it before ordering.
Avoid treating brown colour, a leaf graphic or the word green as proof. If evidence is unavailable, record the claim as unverified and ask for another option. Do not apply a certification statement from one line of products to an entire supplier catalogue.
Record the buying decision
Keep the sourcing requirement alongside the approved packing specification and price. A concise comparison can record evidence received, product fit, carton quantity and delivered cost without turning a general preference into an unsupported environmental claim.
When reordering, confirm that the quoted product and claim have not changed. Packaging, suppliers and variants can change, so keep the actual documents for the order you accept.
A few more answers
Common buying questions
Does recycled tissue automatically mean FSC Recycled?
No. A general recycled claim and an FSC-labelled product are different. Check the exact product label and supporting evidence.
Does FSC certification prove a tissue will perform better?
It addresses sourcing claims. Assess product fit and suitability separately using its specification and a practical trial.
